Privacy Notice
This notice explains how personal data is handled when you visit Webteic.com, contact us or use services operated directly by Webteic.
1. Who is responsible for your data?
Webteic Limited is intended to be the data controller for personal data described in this notice. The company is currently in the process of incorporation in Ireland.
Business address: Comworks, Station Road, Loughrea, Co. Galway, Ireland, H62 VN56
Company number: To be added following incorporation
Privacy contact: dpo@webteic.com
2. What this notice covers
This notice applies to Webteic.com and any Webteic-operated website, demonstration environment, contact form, mailing list or other online service that links to this notice.
It does not automatically apply to independent websites built with the self-hosted Webteic CMS. The organisation or person operating each self-hosted website is responsible for explaining how that website processes personal data.
3. Personal data we may collect
Depending on how you interact with Webteic.com, we may process the following categories of personal data:
- Contact information, such as your name, email address, organisation and any information you provide when contacting us.
- Support and correspondence data, including messages, support requests, feedback and records of our communications with you.
- Account information, if an account-based feature is made available, such as your name, email address, login records and account settings.
- Technical and security data, such as IP address, browser and device information, request logs, timestamps, error logs and security events generated when you access the website.
- Download and interaction data, where recorded by our website or hosting systems, such as the page or file requested and the time of the request.
- Marketing preferences, if you choose to subscribe to product news or other communications.
Please do not send sensitive personal data through general contact or support forms unless it is genuinely necessary for us to deal with your request.
4. Why we use personal data and our legal bases
We process personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so. Depending on the circumstances, those purposes and legal bases may include:
- Responding to enquiries and support requests — our legitimate interests in communicating with users and, where relevant, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- Providing website features, accounts or requested services — performance of a contract or steps taken at your request.
- Operating, securing and troubleshooting Webteic.com — our legitimate interests in maintaining the availability, integrity and security of our systems and preventing abuse.
- Meeting legal, accounting and regulatory obligations — compliance with a legal obligation.
- Sending optional marketing communications — your consent, or another basis permitted by Irish electronic-marketing law where the legal conditions are met.
- Using non-essential cookies or similar technologies — your consent, where such technologies are enabled.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider whether our interests are proportionate and whether your rights and freedoms override those interests.
We do not currently use personal data collected through Webteic.com to make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
6. Hosting and service providers
Webteic.com is hosted in the European Union, with hosting infrastructure located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We may also use trusted providers for services such as email delivery, security, backups and technical support.
Where a service provider processes personal data on our behalf, we require it to handle that data only for the purposes of providing the relevant service and in accordance with applicable data-protection law.
The Webteic.com theme currently uses the Manrope web font through Google Fonts. This may cause a visitor's browser to connect to Google-operated infrastructure in order to retrieve the font files. If the font is self-hosted in future, this paragraph may be removed.
7. International data transfers
Where a service provider processes personal data outside the European Economic Area, we will use an appropriate transfer mechanism where required by law, such as an adequacy decision, the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful safeguard.
Details of the safeguards relevant to a particular provider may be requested using the privacy contact below.
8. How long we keep personal data
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for any related legal, security or dispute-resolution requirements.
- General enquiries and support correspondence: normally up to 24 months after the matter is closed, unless a longer period is reasonably required.
- Routine server and security logs: normally kept for a limited operational period, typically no longer than 90 days unless required for investigation, security or legal purposes.
- Marketing records: until you withdraw consent or object, with a limited suppression record retained where necessary to make sure we respect your choice.
- Financial and transaction records: where applicable, retained for the period required by Irish tax and accounting law, which may require relevant business records to be kept for six years.
Backup copies may remain for a limited period after deletion from active systems and are removed or overwritten in accordance with our backup cycle.
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or destruction. Measures may include access controls, encryption where appropriate, secure transport, logging, backups and security monitoring.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a personal-data breach, we will assess and handle it in accordance with applicable data-protection law.
10. Your data-protection rights
Under the GDPR, subject to the conditions and exceptions in law, you may have the right to:
- request access to your personal data;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request erasure of your personal data;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive certain personal data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent, without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal; and
- object at any time to the use of your personal data for direct marketing.
To exercise a right, contact {{PRIVACY_EMAIL}}. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
11. Email and direct marketing
We will not add you to general electronic marketing simply because you contact us or download Webteic. Where consent is required for marketing, we will ask you to opt in.
Every electronic marketing message will provide a straightforward way to unsubscribe or object. Where Irish law permits marketing to an existing customer without a separate opt-in, we will use that exception only where its legal conditions are met.
12. Websites built with Webteic
Webteic is self-hosted software. A business, organisation, developer or other person who installs and operates Webteic on their own infrastructure generally determines how personal data on that installation is collected and used.
This Webteic.com Privacy Notice does not replace the privacy notice required for an independently operated Webteic website. Site operators are responsible for configuring their own privacy, consent, retention and data-protection practices in accordance with the laws that apply to them.
13. Children
Webteic.com is directed primarily at developers, designers, agencies, businesses and organisations and is not intended as a service for children. If a feature is introduced that is specifically directed at children, the relevant privacy information and safeguards will be reviewed before that feature is made available.
14. Changes to this Privacy Notice
We may update this notice when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The current version will be published on this page with its last-updated date. Where a change is material, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
