Installing Webteic
Webteic includes a browser-based installer that checks your hosting environment and guides you through the initial platform installation.
Before beginning, upload and extract the Webteic files into the web directory for your domain or subdomain. You will also need an empty MySQL database and a database user with permission to access it.
1. Open the installer
Visit the domain or subdomain where you uploaded Webteic. If the platform has not yet been installed, Webteic will automatically display the installer.
The installer brings together the server checks, administrator details, database connection and module selection on one screen.
2. Review the server requirements
The Server Requirements area checks that the server is running PHP 8.5 or newer and that the required PHP extensions are available.
Each successful check is marked with a green indicator. If a required check fails, correct the server configuration before continuing.
3. Check file and directory access
Webteic checks that the files and directories needed during installation are accessible to the PHP or web-server user.
These checks include the application configuration, database configuration, cache, logs and upload storage. The robots.txt check is optional and allows the installer to add the website sitemap entry.
Correct file ownership is preferred. Do not make the entire application publicly writable.
4. Enter the website and administrator details
Complete the Site & Admin Info fields:
-
Website Name
-
Administrator Username
-
Email Address
-
Super Admin Password
-
Confirm Password
Use a valid administrator email address and a strong, unique password. The administrator account created here will have full access to the Admin Dashboard.
5. Connect the MySQL database
Enter the database information prepared for the website:
-
MySQL Host
-
MySQL Username
-
MySQL Password
-
MySQL Database
Webteic checks the database connection before enabling the installation button. If the connection is refused, confirm the database name, username, password and host supplied by your hosting provider.
6. Select the modules
Choose the modules you want to install with the platform.
Only enable the modules needed for the initial website. Additional modules can be installed later through the Admin Dashboard.
You can also enable Maintenance Mode if you want the public website to remain unavailable while it is being configured. Maintenance Mode can be switched off later.
7. Start the installation
The Start the Platform Installation button becomes available when:
-
All required fields are valid
-
The database connection succeeds
-
All server requirements are met
Select the button and allow the installer to complete its four stages:
-
Installing the database
-
Configuring the website
-
Creating the administrator account
-
Finalising the installation and configuring scheduled jobs
Do not close or refresh the page while installation is running.
8. Complete the installation
When installation finishes, select Installation Complete – Log in to Admin Dashboard.
If scheduled jobs could not be configured automatically, the completion screen will display the command that must be added through your hosting control panel or server crontab.
After logging in, you can begin configuring the website through the Admin Dashboard.
As a final security step, securely back up the generated app/config/.app-secrets.php file. This file contains the platform’s application encryption keys and must be preserved with the website’s deployment files.
